Communities In Schools Southeast Texas, Inc., is here to make a difference in the lives of youth in Southeast Texas. Since its founding in 1991, by caring adults and employers in the area, CISSET has served over 60,00 youth in numerous capacities.

 

For more than 25 years, Communities In Schools has helped students choose success by ensuring their access to the "Five Basics"

• A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
• A safe place to learn and grow
• A healthy start and a healthy future
• A marketable skill to use upon graduation
• A chance to give back to peers and community


Each year, more than 2 million young people in 28 states have access to service through Comunities In Schools.

 

Mission Statement: To develop public/private partnerships to assist the school system in keeping students in school through direct involvement with the student and the student's family.

Goal: To meet the individual needs of students of potential by working closely in a coordinated and collaborative effort with school personnel, parents and family, repositioned agency staff, community volunteers, community businesses, and social service agencies.

Objective: To develop public/private partnerships for dropout prevention designed to connect appropriate human services with youth in addressing such critical issues as school attendance, literacy, job preparedness, teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, teen suicide, and school violence.
